She married Leonard Glenn Kerby on June 28, 1939 and he preceded her in death on August 20, 2005. She attended First Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Kerby was a school teacher at Ashley Creek Public Schools; she then owned and operated her own Drapery business. Surviving her is her son Bob Kerby (owner of Bob Kerby Plumbing) and Lynn of Decatur, daughter Pat DeVidal and husband Jasper of Decatur. Also surviving are six grandchildren, two step grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, four brothers and a daughter-in-law Marge Kerby. The family would like to thank the Staff of Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mt. Zion, Decatur Memorial Hospital nursing staff of #4100 and Dr. Hima Atluri for the special care they gave to our mother. Mom kept the faith and finished the race. Her treasure in this life was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the love of her family. Her prayer for eternity was to be at home with her Savior and reunited with her loved ones. Our Lord heard her prayers and now she is content. Don't cry for me for I am walking the streets of gold with Jesus and my many loved ones. My life was long and very blessed. I will miss you all but when tomorrow starts without me; don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart. Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Great Great Grandma. Bob, Pat & Families,

Sending our thoughts and prayers to you both. Your mom and dad were always good to all the neighborhood kids. I know it took a lot of patients to handled all of us. I still remember!!

Praise the Lord! Mrs. Kerby is at home with the Lord. What a sweet, precious person she was. We just met her three years ago at Heritage Manor, and always enjoyed visiting for a few minutes with her. Ray and Carole Bolt

Pat & Jasper, we are sorry for your loss and sorry we cannot attend the services. However, we are presently in NC visiting our daughter so this message is the best we can do.

May God and your good memories give you comfort.

Hazel was such an encourager to everyone she met. She didn't complain about her situation. She thanked us for coming to see her and asked us to come back. We always looked forward to seeing her. Dick & Sue Robison, Hillside Bethel Tabernacle Church.

HAZEL WAS A GOOD LADY. KIND HEARTED. WE ALL LOVED HER SO. I KNEW HER THOUGH THE BIRTHDAY PARTY AT THE NURSING HOE B-DAY PARTIES ON THE SECOND MONDAY OF THE MONTH. SHE WAS SPECIAL IN HER OWN WAYS. SOMETIMES SHE FELT LIKE A GRANDMOTHER TO US ALL. MAY GOD BE WITH HER AT THIS TIME OF NEED.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
