Mary Susan (Weaver) Hadden

December 13, 1928 - November 3, 2024

DECATUR - Mary Susan (Weaver) Hadden passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, in Mt. Zion, Illinois. Mary, the eighth of ten children of Addie and Earl Weaver, was born on December 13, 1928, in Fayette County and grew up on the family farm near Herrick, IL.

She and Don Hadden married in Blue Mound on October 23, 1948, and were married for over 70 years. Mary is survived by children, Patti Hodges (husband, John Allen), Springfield, and Kent Hadden (wife, Kathy), Mt. Zion; grandsons, Daron and Drew, Mt. Zion; stepgrandchildren: John David Allen (Thuy Nguyen), Cicero, IN and Patrick Allen (wife, Megan), Sherman IL, and four great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Madeline, Conor, and Emma, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, all her siblings, and stepgrandson, Brian Allen.

During summers in high school, Mary lived with her sister, Alice, in Decatur where she worked making the best milk shakes, especially chocolate, at Steak and Shake. This was a skill that continued all of her life. Upon high school graduation, she moved to Decatur with her best friend, worked in the billing department of Decatur Memorial Hospital and continued her bookkeeper/ office manager career with Drs. Forrest Martin, J.D. Waller, and Harriet Held.

Mary enjoyed walking on the beach while wintering in Florida, golfing with her siblings and their families, and cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Illini. She was an active member of Zion Chapel United Methodist Church. Mary and Don enjoyed being a part of the Boody Card Club for 56 years. Mary was a people person. She loved talking and laughing with friends and family and was always interested in their lives. The last few years she especially enjoyed remaining connected with her nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Randall Residence and Mt. Zion Health and Rehab Center for their loving care.

I always enjoyed talking to Mary when I visited Randall Assisted Bldg. & her brother John Weaver , when I worked at Randall Independent Bldg. They both shared stories about their Life w/ me & were sincere , caring people & both said they had a good Life. Also, they always expressed their appreciation when people went the extra mile for them .. They deserved it & are missed.

& are missed. Anne

So sorry for your loss. I enjoyed visiting with Mary when I worked at Randall. I will never forget her ability to sit Indian style in her recliner while cheering on the Illini. God be with her family and all your memories
