Geoff Tindall Obituary

TINDALL Geoff Tindall passed on into God's backcountry after a prolonged illness. Geoff was born in Indiana, and after working construction in Alaska became a building contractor in Crested Butte, Colorado where he honed his skills with the fly rod. One of the original "trout bums" of the 70's, he explored western fisheries such as the Clark Fork and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. In Colorado he met and married wife Cheri moving shortly thereafter to Islamorada, where they raised their son, Charlie. He became a real estate agent and tournament winning fishing guide. His prowess with the long rod was legendary as was his warning "duck or bleed". "There isn't a cast I can't make" was pretty much the way he looked at it. And, if you happened to be in the way, you had been warned. His incredible physical strength was reflected in his will to live as evidenced by his courageous struggle with a long and debilitating condition. His acerbic sense of humor was intelligent; and being a gentleman, his conversation was not vulgar. He's now where the tarpon are high and happy, the bonefish are tailing, and way up in the hills a cutthroat is sipping dries. Geoff was a wonderful man faithful to friend and family. He is survived by his wife Cheri, son Charlie, sisters Sissy Tindall and Betsy Tindall (Chuck Colip), brother John Tindall, nieces Ashley Tindall and Leslie Colip and nephew Charlie Colip. Friends are welcome to gather for a memorial service on June 6, 2015 at 4:00pm at the Lorelei.

So sorry to hear of Geoff's passing. Love to Sheri and family. He was a friend back in the Crested Butte days, and I remember his laughter most of all.

I learned of Geoff's passing yesterday with a phone call from an old friend from Crested Butte. I was saddened to hear it but knew that Geoff had been struggling for years.I want to express my condolences to Cheri and the rest of the family, who I know not.
Geoff and I shared some memorable moments in our youth. The last time was probably the memory worth recalling. In 1982 we went fishing and Geoff was the Skipper. We netted the live bait then went after the sailfish. He hooked one so I reeled in to avoid a tangle but I hooked one on the way in. Somehow we managed to land and release 2 sailfish that morning. As we returned to land with 2 banners streaming we became legends in our own minds.
I know he'll be missed by many and you are in my thoughts and prayers, The Ross
