Dear Joan and Family,
Ricka and I were sorry to hear of Irv's passing. I can't help but remember first meeting him (and the rest of the Getz family) in 1955 when I was a child. Irv ,along with my father Marvin (zl') certainly helped develop both my appreciation of fine jewelry and the pride which comes from building relationships as a sales professional. Our heartfelt sympathy is with all of you. May Irv's memory "be for a blessing".
Warm regards,
Ricka and Alan Cohen

My deepest sympathy to the Getz family on your loss. My first memory and fondest of Irving and Joan is when I was the baby sitter for Anyce and Walter on 52nd Ct. and I went to the wedding as the sitter for the two girls, I was in the hotel room with all the excitment of the bridesmaids and bride dressing, later I sat with the girls and when dinner was over Anyce had made arrangements for me to take the girls home in a taxi. I was so awed by the entire day, and what a lucky teenager I was to have that experience. I still remember that Sunday and have told the story so many times. The Getz family has been blessed with so much love among all of you.

I was so very shocked and saddened to learn of Irving’s passing. I grew up with the Getz family – a best friend of Richard’s for many years. Mr. Getz was always someone I greatly admired. Kind and generous as can be, perpetually friendly and quick with a smile to all of us neighborhood kids who constantly hung around -- and always felt welcome – at the Getz home in Pinecrest. Despite his considerable success and stature in life Irving was among the most unpretentious men I have ever known. I learned the wonders of a great Jewish deli in that Getz kitchen (bagels and Nova remain a favorite), a healthy respect for arms while admiring Irving’s stunning collection of shotguns (he was a nationally ranked skeet champion) and, best of all, the loving warmth of a good family led by a good man. My heart goes out to Richard, Joan, Neil, Sam and Beth.
