Pearl Gurevitz Obituary

GUREVITZ, PEARL, age 97, of Boynton Beach, FL formerly of Miami, FL and Brooklyn, NY, passed away on September 18, 2008. Pearl was born on March 3, 1911. She was the fifth daughter in a family of six daughters of William and Anna Kroopf. In 1948 Pearl and Abe settled in Miami, FL. Pearl was her husband's partner in his business ventures: fish market, hotels and real estate. She was married to Abe Gurevitz for 52 years. During WWII, in Lima, Peru she assisted her husband in his responsibilities with Naval Intelligence. Pearl attended the University of Miami, majoring in art. She loved painting and sculpturing. She was one of the first female stockbrokers in Florida and loved being involved in the stock market. For many years Pearl was the Treasurer of the Sunshine Society, a charity dedicated to special needs children. Pearl and Abe were active with the Greater Miami Hotel and Restaurant Association and Variety Children's Hospital. Pearl will be remembered by her family as a strong and intelligent woman. They include her daughter, Beverly G. Agee, son-in-law, Donald H. Cook, son, Richard Gurevitz, former daughter-in-law Marty Gurevitz, grandchildren Eric, Jennifer and Stacy Gurevitz, Sisters Florence Krieger and Marion Pershan. A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2008 11:00AM at Mt. Nebo Cemetery 5505 N.W. Third Street Miami Florida 33144.
