REN ANTONIO TORRADO M.D.

REN TORRADO Obituary

TORRADO, Ren‚ Antonio, M.D. - Born on November 13, 1913, in Havana , Cuba. Ren‚ died peacefully on July 28, 2012. After graduating from Tulane University Medical School, Ren‚ enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and served as a battlefield surgeon in the Third Auxiliary Medical Group. He was a veteran of the D-Day landing at Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge. Following World War II, he practiced medicine for over fifty years on Miami Beach, where he was a surgeon at St. Francis Hospital (where he also served as Chief of Surgery) and the Miami Heart Institute. Ren‚ is survived by his wife, Diane, his children Ren‚ Torrado, Jr. (Rita Hagan), Suzanne Carmody (Gerard), Carmen Tarzon (Walter), and Drake Torrado; his grandchildren, Ren‚ Torrado, III, Nicole Torrado (Ryan Opeka), Ryann Mantovani (John Mantovani), Kate Carmody, Patrick Carmody, and Nellie Tarzon; and his great-grandchildren, Jack and Mimi Mantovani, Thomas and Clare Opeka, and Ren‚ Torrado IV. Rene was the oldest living member of LaGorce Country Club, having joined there in 1947. Ren‚ took enormous pride in his family and his service to our Country and will be greatly missed. Ren‚'s life will be celebrated at a Mass to be held on August 1, 2012, at 11:00 am, at St. Joseph Church, 8670 Byron Ave., Miami Beach, Florida.
