Strength is gentle.. it is graceful it gives shade and warmth it invites and encourages. It smiles during misfortune. You want to be around it.
For a long time Kathy and I were Fred and Ethel Mertz to Ruthie and Parvissort of the later day Lucy and Desi. That was our good fortune. We were a large diverse family freely coming through open doors, sitting around a holiday tables celebrating Persian, Jewish and generally any eating holiday. We were in each others lives as new souls came into this world.
Ruthie is a great soul. I read this and it seemed to so apply to our friend.
Great souls resemble the elements in their immensity. They absorb everything pain, injustice, insult, folly and give back decency and kindness. They are not born of a piece. They come into being through unflinching confrontation with lifes spears. They reach quiet. Discipline is the backbone of graciousness. Stoicism is the other face of wounds. In the most beautiful smile, painful knowledge hovers.
We love you Ruthie. We miss you, your laugh, your smile, your wisdom, and your extraordinarily long toes.

Ruth I truly loved you. We had so much fun talking about your wonderful little princess and her special outfits. We laughed so much. You loved your family so much. You spoke of the entire family so often until they became a part of my life.

What a beautiful soul she was! Mrs. Alperin was such a compassionate, thoughtful, caring person and Administrator. She did so much for her students and touched thousands of lives in a positive way . I was blessed because my mom worked for her for many years at WPE, so I got to know her well.. eventually my daughter became a student at WPE, and Mrs. Alperin would actually call me and ask me to come in because she needed some baby time with my infant daughter. I would be volunteering at WPE and would catch Mrs. Alperin walking the patio with my baby . :)
She was so adored by my mom, and by my oldest daughter. As a parent of one of her students, I saw (and heard ) how fellow parents treated her and they too all loved and respected Mrs. Alperin. We love you! May you RIP.
To her family: you will remain in my thoughts and prayers

Ruth was a shining star and a great friend. She was an exemplary Principal with a big heart. Children and adults loved her. She taught me so much during my career. She brought light and happiness to my life. She truly was a compassionate person who stood up for what she believed in. A woman of integrity, intelligence, and intensity. Even though you are gone, your light still shines.

Such an enormous loss to all who knew her. Ruth was an amazing, caring woman and I have so many great memories of her from WPE. She truly cared about the children and the teachers she worked with. She had the most wonderfully contagious smile and such a huge heart. Her memory will live on in the hearts of so many people who's lives she touched. REST IN PEACE AND LOVE RUTH.

Ruth was one of three who interviewed me for my job as a music teacher over 30 years ago. She was a mentor and a friend and was the definition of grace, patience and beauty inside and out. RIP Ruth❤❤
