Robert Lee Obituary

Bob Lee, 78, of Junction City, Ore., passed away on Oct. 8, 2017, at his home among family.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Terry of Junction City; daughters, Brenda Lee of Cheshire, Ore., and Kenda Mason (Patrick) of Eugene, Ore.; grandchildren, Monica Roseberry (Danny), Kylie Mason and Connor Mason; siblings, Lenard Lee of Junction City, Marie Walker of Klamath Falls, Ore., Ron Lee of Junction City and Gene Towner of Fence Lake, N.M. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Juanita Lee, both from Bonanza, Ore.; nephew, Rocky Walker, and brother-in-law, Wilbur Walker, both of Klamath Falls, and sister-in-law, Alice Lee of Junction City.
Bob was born in Klamath Falls into a farming and logging family. After graduating from Bonanza High School in 1957, he joined the U.S. Navy, training as a jet mechanic. Around that time, he met the love of his life, Terry, who he married in 1961. Bob and Terry moved in 1968 to Junction City, where he would eventually start a distinguished career in the RV industry. First as one of the original founders of what would become Monaco Coach Corporation, then branched out on his own in 1972 to start Country Camper. The company incorporated in 1973 and eventually was renamed Country Coach in 1984. With its humble beginnings as Country Camper with two employees, Country Coach grew to a corporation encompassing over eight city blocks in Junction City and employing 1,500-plus employees during its peak manufacturing years. Over his 40-year career, Bob Lee's Country Coach became one of the industry's premier manufacturers of luxury diesel pusher motorcoaches.
Recognition of Bob's accomplishments came from many avenues over the years, from industry awards to community awards. He served in industry leadership positions on many boards for nearly 30 years and was honored in 2000 when he was inducted into the RV/MH Heritage Hall of Fame.
Bob had many passions in his life: his love of flying, RVs, and skiing, just to name a few. What Bob Lee will be remembered for most was giving back and helping others when in need. His compassion, his drive, and his enduring love for his family and community will endure with his legacy. His company slogan was "A Class Act" and Bob was just that.
There will be a private family gathering to celebrate his life at a later date.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in his name to Junction City Local Aid, P.O. Box 493, Junction City, OR 97448. Arrangements entrusted to Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home.  Please sign the guestbook at www.musgroves.com.

Bob was the type of man you seldom meet. He was caring and lovable. He would come over and sit in the shop and talk with Lloyd for hours about business, cars & motorcycles. When he was at the house one day "I said Bob doesn't it make you smile when you see one of your motor homes going down the road?" "Yes, but it really makes me smile when I see a hundred of them." He was at the house one day when I came home from work and had driven his SSR. Later that evening he came back and was driving that same SSR. I said I don't think I've ever seen you driving the same vehicle twice in a day. He said "Yeah, but I probably drove something else in between." He loved and admired nice vehicles. We will always have good memories of him - he was fun and caring and treated us just like family, but he was always considerate of others. We will miss him and hope to keep Terry close.

I have lost a very good friend. As a supplier to Country Coach I had the fortunate opportunity to work with and get to know Bob Lee. He was an incredible man who always treated everyone with respect and kindness. Bob had an amazing leadership style which worked well for him..nothing was ever too big of a challenge..he always had the vision and courage to move forward and see his ideas and dreams come to fruition.
He told me once that whenever he promoted or hired an individual into a key position that he would give them a flashlight to help them see the way..and he would always be there for them when they needed help..quite a guy.
Bobby loved our company sponsored fishing trips..we were always fortunate to have him along. I also had the pleasure of going on off road jeep adventures to Moab, Utah and the Mohave Desert with Bob. In the Mohave, Bob and I shared driving duties with his considerably upgraded and beloved jeep while camping out in the desert. No sooner did we have our tent up and Bob would be busy cooking up appetizers for the entire group.
One time in our travels we pulled over at a remote Rest Stop in California. Bob got to talking with a couple of young people who said they needed some money for gas to get to Los Angeles. Bob helped them. As we departed I told Bob that I thought they "worked" at the reststop. Bob looked over at me and said: "Yes, you may well be right..but I did not want to take that chance."

Yes, the company slogan was "A Class Act" but the real "Class Act" was Bobby Lee.
