James Ricketts Obituary

RICKETTS, James Allen, age 94 of Decherd, passed away at his home on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015. He was born in Cowan on June 26, 1921, to the late Thomas Ricketts and Berta Terrill Ricketts. Mr. Ricketts was a WW II veteran and a long-time employee for the State of Tennessee Highway Department. He loved the game of baseball and was an avid outdoorsman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, F.B. Ricketts and J.R. Ricketts and a sister, Christine Ricketts. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Burda Epperson Ricketts; sons, Bruce (Mildred) Ricketts of Edneyville, NC,, Keith (Beverly) Ricketts of Estill Springs and Gary (Donna) Ricketts of Leesburg, Fla.; daughter, Janice (Nick) Lamb of Laurel Hill, N.C.; five grandchildren, Allen Ricketts, Wade Lamb, Heather Billingsley, Steven Ricketts and Scott Ricketts; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was loved deeply and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, from 5-8 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
