Mary Elizabeth "Young" Simmons

SIMMONS, Mary Elizabeth Young, age 88, of Decherd, passed from this life on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015. She was a native of Franklin County and had worked for Lanier's for 12 years, Genesco for 28 years and retired from Wal-Mart after 15 years of service. She will be remembered by the kindness she showed to others, always greeting everyone with a smile and she held the family title for baking the best pies and cakes. Those left to cherish her memories are a daughter, Judy (Eddie) Kirk of Decherd; son, Ronnie (Sunny) Simmons of Winchester; granddaughter, Karrie (Ken) Tucker of Decherd; grandson, David Kirk of Decherd; grandsons, Brent (Beth) Simmons of Winchester and Brian (Lindsey) Simmons of Tullahoma; great- grandsons, Steven Kirk, Ben Simmons, Brad Simmons and Parker Brayden Simmons; great-granddaughters, Hillary Kirk and Britney Tucker; and great-great-grandsons, Ryan Kirk and Logan Kirk. Also left to cherish the good times and much laughter is her special friend, Willa Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Effie McKnight Young and husband, J.D. Simmons. Visitation with the family was held on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, from 5-8 p.m. at Watson-North Funeral Home in Winchester. The funeral service will be conducted on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home with Minister Joshua Haun and John Butler officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Garner Cemetery in Decherd. Serving the family as pallbearers will be, Brent Simmons, Brian Simmons, David Kirk, Steven Kirk, Ken Tucker and John Butler.
