Sara Elizabeth Cope

COPE, Sara Elizabeth Parson, age 86, passed peacefully on Monday, April 3, 2017, in Erlanger Medical Center. She was born on Jan. 24, 1931, in Sewanee, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Carel Cope; son, Charles Cope; daughters, Charlotte Powers and Carolyn Nunley; parents, John Calvin and Katie Parson; brothers, Paulie, George and Sug Parson; and a grandson, Charles Tant. Survivors include her son, Chuck Cope; daughters, Connie Reavis and Celena (Mark) Green; sisters, Annie Green, Katherine Hill and Judy Moore; son-in-law, Jerry Nunley Sr., 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; many nieces and nephews; and her special dog "Sugar," her baby. The family will receive friends during visitation on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Cumberland Funeral Home in Monteagle. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at 5 p.m. in the Cumberland Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Freddie Harris and Brother Tim Campbell officiating.
