JAMES SHANKLES Obituary

JAMES SHANKLES, JR. James Shankles, Jr., "Jimmy", 69, passed away peacefully November 8th, after a yearlong battle to survive a double lung transplant. He is survived by his father, James, Sr., 93, his sister Jo, and three grown sons, Daniel, Nathan and Jonathan. Preceding Jimmy in death is his mother, Bobbie Jo (Campbell) Shankles, who passed away in 2018. Although our hearts are heavy, we know Jimmy is in a better place with the Lord. Jimmy graduated from Texas A&M University with a civil engineering degree. He joined the Navy for a brief stint to become a navigator, but his eyesight prevented him from becoming a pilot, his true passion. His civil engineering career included working for the City of Sherman, Hunter and Associates, among others. Jimmy was an avid history buff and was practically an expert on the US Civil War. He married and was blessed with a family of 5 right out of the gates. Jimmy loved God and the Rangers, pitching on the ballfield and sailing. He was loved and will be missed. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 22, at the Outdoor Chapel at West Hill Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.waldofuneralhome.com .
