Holger Jensen Obituary

Christmas Evening 2013 Holger "Hal" Jensen, age 62, joined fellow Christians in Heaven. Family was able to surround him as he took his last breath following a tragic accident at work. Hal will continue to live in the hearts and minds of those left behind as a man to be respected and honored due to a life filled with love, joy, and adventure. Many were blessed with knowing Hal. He was the kind of person who never met a stranger and made lasting friendships everywhere he went. Together Hal and Lee raised three daughters and now have seven grandchildren who fondly call him "Papa". All of his family loves him dearly. After the girls where grown, he embraced many "hockey sons" and their families by providing a home for players of the Everett Silvertips hockey program. Hal was born in North Dakota on a small farm, and eventually made his way out to Washington State. He was very athletic, enjoying wrestling in college. He enjoyed various softball teams through the years. Later in life, he even got on the ice for some Hockey. Professionally, Hal was a successful Professional Civil Engineer. He was a big Cougar fan and completed his Bachelor's degree at Washington State University. For a few years he worked for the Federal Government in the Bureau of Reclamation. Then he spent many years in the Private Sector before retirement. During retirement he spent some time completing lifelong dreams, including a motorcycle trip around the United States and into Canada. After retirement, his plan was always to go back to work for the Federal Government. In 2011 he moved to Boise, Idaho and rejoined the Bureau. He continued his traveling and was even able to make a trip oversees to attend Hockey games with his "hockey sons". Hal is missed by those left behind, but we take comfort in the knowledge that he is on his greatest adventure of all in Heaven. A memorial is being hosted at the Red Lion in Boise, ID, 1800 Fairview Ave. Boise ID 83702 on February 1, 2014 at 3 p.m.

Hal was one of the Stanwood-Camano Hero Quilters. We were thankful for he & Lee's time spent with us making quilts for wounded soldiers. Thinking of all of you.

Hal was one of the nicest guys we ever met. Funny, caring, interesting, happy... all words that come to mind when I think of Hal. I truly appreciated the fact that he took interest in how my family and business were doing. I looked forward to seeing him when he stopped by the store or the rink and enjoyed our friendly jabs at each other. Hal will be missed but will never be forgotten. He set a great example of how to treat other people and I hope that I can live by his example. God bless Hal.

When I sit down in the quiet and think about it; it still doesn't seem real that Hal is gone. I have so many memories over 20 years worth starting in junior high with Heather becoming fast friends and having one of the best birthday parties ever with her to having my daughter shortly after Donnie had Tailor raising our girls together. I have always loved your family as if they were my own. I love you all and wish I could be there with you this weekend while you remember the remarkable life of Hal. Hugs to you all!!!

Hal was a great man, father, grandfather and husband. In the short time that my family became acquainted with Hal and his family, he and they always made us feel like we belonged. Hal will deeply be missed.
