JAY'S QUOTE:
"In a lifetime, the most one can hope for is to pass the gift of love and family on to our children and future generations. If we are successful, then our time here on earth was very well spent."
Jay was born to Jack and Rosie Scherueble in Everett, WA where he lived his entire 67 years. He attended Washington Elementary, North Jr HS, and graduated from Everett HS in 1972 where he was an outstanding athelete excelling at football and wrestling. An exceptionally talented musician, he achieved degrees in Music Theory from Everett CC and Graphics/Web Design from Bellevue College which developed his passion for producing amazing videos and writing scores of original music. You can view some of them on his YouTube page and Karma Tech Music on soundcloud.com
He was lead singer and guitarist in a band called Soul Creation formed with his best friends John Willins, Tommy Westley, and Steve Brannon. They played at popular venues around the PNW for years. A talented actor, he performed in community theater. When he played Tevya in Fiddler on the Roof the Everett Civic Auditorium was at capacity every night and he received standing ovations after each performance.
All the things he loved he shared with his son Jason, so they snow skied and explored the San Juan Islands on his boat. Watching football and doing BBQ with his Dad and Mom was the highlight of his week. Holidays with family was his favorite. After Thanksgiving dinner at age 4, he was asked "How you doin' Jay?" He said "I'm sticky 'round the lips and full in the tummy." He was always so clever and funny! That described him perfectly to this day.
With an exceptionally inventive mind and extraordinary intelligence, there was nothing he could not learn and nothing was ever made that he couldn't figure out. From cars to computers, he could always make it work and invented so many creative solutions for the most perplexing problems.
His life's work was in the cable industry, starting with Viacom and most recently Comcast. His manager said "Jay was one of our most valuable employees, held in high esteem, and loved by everyone that knew him." He excelled at sales and technical support equally.
His big heart was generously shared with everyone, especially those less fortunate. He deeply loved his family, friends, and all his pets with great passion. Especially his dog, Karma. He had a rich sense of humor and was so fun and funny. Everyone just loved being around him!
Not terribly religious, but he believed in the Lord and wore his silver cross every day of his life.
Jay is survived by; his parents Jack and Rosie Scherueble, beloved son Jason, granddaughters Allysa and Abby, sisters Kathy Pickering (Marc) Ellis and Lisa Branham (Lantz Wagner), nephews Ryan (Patty) Pickering, Brandon (Megan) Pickering, Tyler (Ginger) Branham, and numerous grand-neices and nephews who all adored him.
There is a black hole in the universe where his sparkly star burned out. We will miss his voice and heart-felt laugh, the love he showered on us, and we will carry him in our hearts every day for as long as we live ...
but, Jay, we know your time here on earth was very very well spent.
No service is planned at this time but a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. What would make him very happy is if you made donations in Jay's name to PAWS or The NOAH Center.

I remember Jay and his mates rehearsing their band in his folk's basement when I was wooing his sister Kathy while I was a freshman at the U. A fine family with great children. Sorry he was taken from them too soon.

So sad to read this. For many years we were friends with Jay. We called him "Moose". Our families spent a lot of time together doing many things. There was no lack of laughter when we were together. My condolences to Jason and the rest of the family.

My sympathies to the family. We have lost another North Everett Treasure. I lined up opposite Jay many times and he always schooled me. Whether it was football or wrestling Jay was tops. I had the good fortune of meeting Jay again when I coached Jason in Little League. What a fun guy!! R.I.P. my friend. Love ya Brother

I worked with Jay at Viacom for many years. I remember he had such a contagious laugh and great personality that made working with him a joy. Although I'm still in cable I haven't seen him for ages, but in my mind he'll always have a place in my good old days. My condolence to his friends and family he was a gem.
