Nathan West Obituary

Nathan Paul West, 31, died unexpectedly on Sunday, November 7, 2010, at his home in Rutland.

Nathan was born in Rutland on November 27, 1978, the son of Thomas and Christine (Anderson) West. He attended Rutland public schools graduating from the Rutland High School in 1996. He attended Lyndon State College and graduated from the College of St. Joseph in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in political science.

Nathan took great comfort in his faith in God and would regularly attend the All Saints Anglican Church. Nathan's search for answers was ongoing as well as his love for his family. He was especially close to his grandparents in Rutland and Proctor.

Nathan took great pride in researching family history and was especially proud of his association with the Mayflower Society. He was also a gifted artist and writer and would often use his artistic abilities to craft gifts for the children in his family. For many years, Nathan was active in local and state politics.

He is survived by his father, Thomas West and stepmother Patricia of Rutland; his mother, Christine Oberfeldt and stepfather Dan of South Carolina; paternal grandparents, Erwin and Phyllis West of Rutland, maternal grandparents, Paul "Gordie" and Bea Anderson of Proctor; brother Ian (Laurie) Houston of South Carolina; also aunts and uncles, William (Val) Melen, Beth (Tom) Austin, Barbara Davis, Gary (Nancy) Melen, Sharon (David) Frappier, Kenneth (Susan) West, Barbara McCorkel, Terri (Peter) LeFurgy and Linda (Eric) Groce; also nieces Ashley and Bailee Cameron and nephews Hunter Cameron, Jonathan and Zachariah Houston who all held a special place in Nathan's heart.

He was predeceased by his sister, Melissa Ann Cameron, and an uncle, Paul Gordon Anderson Jr.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010, at the Aldous Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the All Saints Anglican Church located at 42 Woodstock Ave., Rutland, Vt. Burial will be in the East Clarendon Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Anglican Church, PO Box 1261, Rutland, VT 05701; or to a charity of one's choice.

I am so sad to learn of Nathan passing. We worked together on some campaigns, and grew into friends. He spent many days with me and my family, and we enjoyed his company.
Nathan was intelligent, whitty and a very deep thinker with compassionate heart.
I will miss Nathan, and Pray for him.
R.I.P. Nathan, I am sure you will quiz Our Heavenly Father the same way you did all of us here on His glorious Earth.
GOD Bless you my friend!

I was deeply saddened and came to tears when I learned of Nates passing. I first met Nate about nine years ago at a meeting. We did converse from time to time, after, via the internet and I found him to be a true Patriot, and I am proud to have known him. We shall all miss Nate and I truly regret having lost touch with him.
May he rest in peace. GOD Bless you, his family, and I wish you strength.

Nate was a campaign associate. We both were political science majors and Republicn supporters. I did not know him well but his energy and enthusiasm were quite evident. He was passionate in his beliefs. No one is indispensible but he certainly was not dispensible. His humanity and dedication will be missed.
Best Wishes Nate and condolences to his family.
