Robert Ramstead Obituary

Robert Elvin (Bob) Ramstead Robert Elvin (Bob) Ramstead, 89, of Everett passed away December 1, 2013 with his family by his side. He was born in Everett to E.W. (AI) and Edla Ramstead on November 26, 1924. A lifelong resident of Everett, Bob graduated from Everett High School in 1943. He served in the Navy as an aviation machinist mate 1st class during WWII. He was married to Jean Cozart on July 5, 1947 in Chicago, IL. They spent 66 wonderful years together surrounded by family and friends. Bob worked for Everett Auto Company, Dean Nichols, and Walsh Platt Motors before retiring in 1986. He could fabricate or fix almost anything, building sprint car wings during his retirement. He enjoyed auto racing; track, roadster, and sprint cars, traveling to Knoxville and Indianapolis for races. He also loved boating; sailing in his teenage years and outboards in later years. He read voraciously and spent time traveling in the US; most memorably a visit to Washington DC with his daughter and her family. Most mornings he walked the waterfront with friends, grabbing a cup of coffee afterwards, solving all the world's problems. He was happy to say that he had checked off every box on his bucket list. He is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Bobby and Tim; daughter, Lisa (Mike) Langan; grandchildren, Kelsey (Danny) Nicholson, Patrick, Katie and Jac; and great grandson, Spencer Robert. Bob is also survived by many family members and friends who will miss his honesty and sense of humor. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Edla; sister, Phyllis Dickey; brother, John (Corky) Ramstead; and granddaughter, Alyssa. The family would like to thank Providence Hospice of Everett for the excellent care and compassion they showed to both Bob and his family. His journey was made more comfortable because of their care. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Providence Hospice and Home Care, 2731 Wetmore Ave. Ste. 520, Everett, WA, 98201. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Bob's life, January 4, 2014 from 3 p.m. til 6 p.m. at the home of Mike and Lisa Langan, 5008 Colby, Everett.

I worked at the same dealership with Bob for 10 years and enjoyed his spontaneous humor and knowledge of things mechanical. Later we conversed when meeting at various car shows. I know many others, like myself will miss this man's presence. My sincere thoughts to his family.

I was also saddened to see bob's obituary in the herald. I was hired in 1968 by Bob's good friend Ike Hanks senior at Klein Ford. Anytime I went to a car show, I would see Bob and always enjoyed talking with him. I was always amazed as to how busy he was, helping friends with their projects, and his own restorations. He was such a wealth of knowledge when it came to anything mechanical. The old days of automobile dealerships seemed to be all interconnected like one big family. That time has long since past. Many will miss Bob, I sure will

I am so saddened to see that Bob has passed away. He was such a good friend to my dad, Phil Foubert, and made frequent visits to Dad following my stepmother's death in 2008 until Dad passed in 2011. Bob was always cheerful, always positive, and it was a pleasure to see him. My deepest sympathies to his family. It is hard enough to lose someone you love, and to have such a loss during the Christmas season is even harder. Take patient care of yourselves.
