Roger Clapper Obituary

Roger David Clapper

Roger Clapper was born in Seattle, WA on April 27, 1962. He passed into the loving arms of his Lord on October 5, 2011. His family was at his side to bid him goodbye, following his courageous four month battle with colon cancer.
Roger grew up in the Bothell/Kenmore, WA area, attended Epiphany Lutheran Church and graduated from Inglemoor High School and Shoreline Community College.
Roger had many special interests in his life, as a youngster he was active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Sea Scouts. He enjoyed weightlifting, dirt bikes and soccer. As an adult he enjoyed cooking, camping, skiing, boating, travel and especially his Harley motorcycle. But his most dedicated interest was always his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father and adoring grandfather. He was loved and respected by all who knew him, a man of high character who was always willing to help, generous and caring of nature and a wonderful listener who encouraged people and made them feel special. His life was an inspiration and a blessing to all who knew him.
Roger was employed at Super Media. He was a manager for a team of sales reps. The people who worked for him cared about him very much and they were like family for Roger. It pained him to have to leave behind his work and those people he affectionately called "his peeps" who meant so much to him.
Roger was an active member of the GNW Harley Owners Group and served as their treasurer for three years. The special friends in this group provided meals and support for Roger and his family through all his illness. Roger was also treasurer of the Creekside at Martha Lake HOA, a group of loving and caring neighbors.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Diana; their daughter, Lani (Austin); grandson, Simon; parents, Kirk and Fran Clapper; best buddy, brother, Doug (Leilonda); and sister, Norma (Geoff) Reynolds; many aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces and nephews; and in-laws who all meant so much to him.
Roger's cheery disposition, strong faith and loving heart will be greatly missed. He will live on forever in our hearts.
A celebration of Roger's life will be held at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 16348 Juanita Drive, in Kenmore, WA 98028, on Saturday, October 15 at 1:00 o'clock.
The family requests donations to Habitat for Humanity in lieu of flowers and extends gratitude to Providence Hospice caregivers.

I had the privilege of working with Roger years ago at Verizon. He always managed to have a positive attitude in good times and bad. As many have said he had an infectious laugh and smile.
We have lost a good man.

To the Clapper family, I want to let you know that I am thinking of you at this time when you are missing Roger. I remember when Roger was born as I was a kid who lived across the street in Lynnwood. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Take Care.

I worked for Roger for several years at Verizon. He was so very highly respected by all of us. We worked so many hours together you feel like you are family. When I chose to leave the company he took me out to lunch and still wanted me to stay. I moved on to a new company but we both still stayed in touch from time to time. I am thankful for our Facebook chats we had after he had his health check. He was such a great man of character and dignity always. His courage and always caring for others was another of his wonderful character traits. I am so sorry for his life being taken to soon. He had so much more to share with all of us. Peace be with you Roger.

So saddened by Roger's passing. We grew up in Arrowhead with Roger - we played hide n seek together until midnight most weekends- from arrowhead dr down to 159th st . Often I saw Roger tagging along with Doug to our house on Saturday mornings - while Doug and my brother Tom hung out... we always considered Roger part of the Olwell family... Miss you much ,
God speed,
Allison (olwell) Barr

Roger, I've known you since 1st grade, Mrs Croiser's class. We were friends thru school. I remember your dad taking us to Mt index on our motorcycles, what fun. I lost track of you when I changed high schools. The loss was mine. What a fine man you turned into. It would have been my honor to have been a close friend at the end. May God bless you and keep you, I'll see you again,in my time.

Roger was the one Manager that most employees wanted to work for. I was always envious of the employees that worked for Roger. They absolutely loved their job and the support that Roger gave them. Roger was truly a quality man! Keeping a great attitude & always making people feel like a winner. I loved his laugh and he always had the biggest smile on his face. I will always remember you and be thankful I was able to know you. Peace be with you Roger.
