Sandra Shiel Obituary
Sandra Jean Shiel
Born July 14, 1965, Sandra was raised in Everett, and graduated from Everett High School in 1983. Sandra was a department manager for several retail stores, tried some modeling, and was employed at the Verizon Company for nine years. On her short journey in life, Sandra touched many people with her outgoing, bubbly personality. Whether traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada, a shopping mall, visiting friends, going to a ball game, or visiting her family, she had that attention getting presence about her.
Sandra left her soulmate of 21 years, Donny Estes, of Everett; mother, Jenny Shiel, of Mt. Vernon, Washington; father, Jack Shiel, of Arlington, Washington; sister, Deborah (Paul) Olson, of Marysville, Washington; brothers, Kevin (Julie) Shiel, of Marysville, Lance Shiel, of Coulee Dam, Washington, John Shiel, of Seattle, Washington, and Vinny Shiel, of Everett; stepmother, Cheryl Shiel, of Everett; grandmother, Evelyn Shiel, of Winona, Minnesota; Donny's parents, Darlene (Chuck) Wascher, of Arlington, and Ken (Gwen) Estes, of Camano Island, Washington; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A person asks, how can I hurt so much without Sandra? The answer must be, a piece of their heart has died with this beautiful person.
Memorials may be made to, "Pay it forward" to your favorite charity in Sandra's name.

Donny and Shiel Family,
As we go through life, we meet certain people that have this ability, a special connection that is felt immediately in their personality. Sandra had it, she made you feel like what was going on with you was important, not trivial, for that we will always be thankful. Janet and I looked forward to the bowling parties, the softball season and the trip to Billy's after the game so we could find out what neat trip or occurance was going on with Sandra. She always had words of encouragement and a never give up attitude.
The times Janet and I have spent with both of you, will be treasured and never forgotten.

Sandra was an exceptional person. Her bright smile and enthusiasm seemed never ending. I regret not keeping in touch. 2 wks ago my daughter found a picture Sandra sent. It took me down memory lane as I shared many stories w/Madison. I said "I truly need to call her" and deeply regret my procrastination. My heart goes out to her family. It goes without saying what everyone thought of Sandra. Her persona was one-of-a-kind. I know you are very proud of her and she very proud of you! She would want you to move forward in life and appreciate all life has to offer. She has taught us all a lesson that we never really know when we will leave this earth and to really enjoy what we have around us. Sandra and you were always those kind of people who took everyone in and treated them as special. You will always have friends to help you through the years without Sandra, but in reality you will always have Sandra helping guide you through and calling on us (your friends) to make sure you follow through. I will miss her very much and I will miss her words of encouragement and support she always had for me. May the years ahead provide comfort knowing she is always in your heart and knowing that I will also never forget her friendship. To my two great friends and their families may peace be with you.

Donny and family...we personally didn't know Sandra well at all, mostly from weddings that she would help Donny with, but she always had a smile and a good conversation for anyone. Sandra and I worked together at Garden Botanika in the Everett Mall. She was, as everyone has said....the most gracious and beautiful lady you could ever meet. Donny...she loved you very much, I hope that gives you some comfort at this difficult time. Please know you all are in our thoughts and prayers. I was honored to be asked by Donny to Speak at Sandra's Celebration of Life at Leifer Manor on Thursday. Yes, it was hard and challenging to do. But, thinking of the UNCONDITIONAL FRIENDSHIP, SINCERITY, UNPRETENIOUSNESS AND WARMTH of Sandra and Donny helped me get through it. Sandra was and spiritually continues to be as bright as the rays of sunshine that we were blessed with weatherwise on Thursday. I know Sandra had something to with the beautiful weather too. Her incredible presence will help us through this long period of healing. We must be strong for our Dear Friend Donny and each other. As Chaplain Keith Yarjer told us on Thursday: "We must keep Sandra's Legacy going...Sandra would want us to keep it going." I couldn't agree more. Always be thankful, not just for Sandra and Donny, but for the other family and friends you have too. Make sure to let them know how much you Love and Care about them. We all wish we could tell Sandra that at least one more time. Someday, through the Grace of God, we will!

I came to work on Monday and could not believe that Sandra was gone. She always had a smile for everyone and always spoke to her co-workers as she walked up and down the isle. Sandra was such a beautiful person. She and I had been on the same team since she started working for GTE/Verizon. She always had a smile on her face no matter what. She never let anything get her down. She had a great love for her family, and treasured the time she spent with them. Even on dress down days she looked dressed up. I will miss her.
