Steven Bloomberg Obituary

Steven Ray Bloomberg died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family on July 26, 2015, two months after being diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma. Steven graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1965. He later received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington where he received a scholarship for tennis. Steven was an advocate for peace, and gently spread his message of peace, love and reconciliation throughout his life. He began his young adult life traveling by car south to Oaxaca, Mexico, and north to Alaska. He spent the last years of his life traveling to places such as Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia and wintering in the warmer parts of the United States. He had a passion for living in harmony with nature, and started "Flowering Mountain Landscaping" in the late seventies. He later went to work for Northshore School District and was beloved by those that worked along side him. Steven never sought rewards or recognition for what he did. He tirelessly served his family, friends, members of his church, and anyone in need. He will always be remembered for his humor, his work ethic, and his humanity. Steven was born to Lily Bloomberg and Ray Bloomberg. He is preceded in death by his brother, Clyde Bloomberg; his twin sons, Damian and Soren; and his grandson, Isaiah. He is survived by his wife, Paula Bloomberg; his daughter, Dawn Bloomberg; his son, Jesse Bloomberg; his brother, Brion Bloomberg; his grand-daughter, Jayda Woods; and a small army of beloved friends and relatives. His memorial service will be held at Evergreen Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 1607 Fourth St. Marysville, Washington 98270 on Saturday August 15, 2015, at 2:00 p.m.

Just heard about one of my favorite people. We are crushed that we'll never have such great visits with him and Paula again.

I worked with Steve while I was an Elementary principal in the Northshore School District. He was a Man of His Word! If he said he would do it I knew I could count on his follow through. I enjoyed his work and admired his ethics. He would take time to chat about family and his gentle soul created an aura of peace even in stressful situations. He was one of my favorite people to work with. I an so sorry for your great loss. Sincerely, Ann Panush

Steve, old pal, how's heaven?

August 9, 2015

I looked up to Steve during my days at John Marshall Junior High, Roosevelt High School and the U of W. Although I haven't seen him
in 45 years, I would think about him from time to time and wonder what he was doing. Rest in Peace Steve.

Steve was a gentleman and a scholar. I so enjoyed getting to know him while working in Northshore School District. He believed in peace, justice, equity, and caring for each other and our world. He felt deeply about his beliefs and others. He was a fine friend, a kind man, and is deeply missed.

Enjoyed occasionally running into Steve on the Mukilteo/Clinton ferry, after I retired from NSSD. He was a great guy, definitely led by example. Will truly be missed.

I missed Steve when he left Northshore. I'm afraid I was something of a pest with all my requests from the playground, but I enjoyed talking to him and he made me laugh when I tripped on the roadway in front of him, saying women didn't usually fall for him this way. He saved an embarrassing moment. Sorry for your loss.

Paula, I'm so sorry. Steve was one of my favorite people and he stopped by last year after cataract surgery and we caught up on old times. It was always good to see him rolling down the driveway when he had the landscape company and he was a philosopher like me and we had a lot in common always. We just connected. This is a huge loss and a shock and there are no words for this kind of thing. I know you will miss him terribly and I'm thinking of you.
