Bobby Stevenson Obituary
ROCK HILL - Mr. Bobby Stevenson, 76, of Rock Hill, S.C., died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at his home.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road.
Born in Rock Hill, Mr. Stevenson was the son of the late William Stevenson and Rosa Young Stevenson. He was an outstanding student athlete at Rock Hill High School, lettering in football, basketball and track. He was an Eagle Scout, Golden Gloves boxer and a lifelong blood donor for the American Red Cross. He was a member of New Kirk Baptist Church, Moose Lodge 1720 and the Rock Hill Elks Club. He retired from Bowater after 41 years.
Bobby was a devoted husband, father and brother. He loved the beach, the pool (where he wowed everyone with his diving skills), being with family and entertaining friends with his endless jokes. To know him was to love him.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Howell Stevenson; sons, Danny Stevenson (Dale) of Chapin, S.C., Bruce Stevenson (Rogenia) of Rock Hill, Hal Stevenson (Diana) of Columbia, S.C.; stepson, Preston Gauntt of Beaufort, S.C.; sisters, Mary Ella Turney, Judy Pittman, and Linda Jordan Graves, all of Rock Hill and Anne Clapham (Brad) of Charlotte, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Helen Stevenson of Lakewood, Calif., and Joan Crane Stevenson of Rock Hill; eight grandchildren, Garret, Anna (Rodney), Alexander, Hannah, Noelle, Gracie, Jacob and Hannah Grace; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, P.O. Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731 or to the American Heart Association, 310-B Bennett Center Drive, Greer, SC 29650.

Just want to say that my thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone of you, I was just a little girl when I met Bobby he and my dad worked together at Bowaters for many yrs. my dad was Bertie Gladden and I lost him 3-08-2010, and I know Bobby will be missed dearly, my dad thought alot of Bobby and now they both are together and having the time of their lives and having a wonderful time in Heaven, Bobby will always be remembered and missed by everyone he knew, may God Bless you all and remember he will always be in your thoughts and hearts every minute and every hour of the day.
