Edward Dawson Obituary

ROCK HILL - Mr. Edward M, Dawson, 89, passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2009, at Piedmont Medical Center, with his family at his bedside.

The son of the late Curtis Bryant and Anna Burks Dawson, Mr. Dawson was born Jan. 24, 1920, in Big Island, Va. Mr. Dawson was transferred to Rock Hill, S.C., in 1948, by the Celanese Company, having retired after 42 years of service. He was also a member of The Elks Club of Rock Hill Lodge 1318 for 54 years.

Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Louise. Surving are his daughters and their husbands, Ann and Donnie Bechtler of Edgemoor and Sharon and Melvin Godfrey of McConnells; four grandchildren and their spouses, Bryan Bechtler (Pattie), Curt Bechtler, Tina Truesdale (Mike) and Wayne Godfrey; six great-grandchildren, Mitchell Bechtler, Brandon Bechtler, Eric Settlemyer and Shay Crawford (Daniel) of Fort Hood,Texas, Ryan Godfrey and Skyelar Godfrey; and one great-great-grandchild, Bayleigh Settlemyer.

The family will recieve friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. The family suggested that memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.

Burial will be private.

The family of Mr. Edward M. Dawson has entrusted Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home with his care.
