Rock Hill, South Carolina - Mr. Melton "Mack" Allman, 79, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, February 18, 2022. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, deacon and friend. He passed away at home surrounded by his beloved wife and two sons.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 1:30 pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 with Rev. Barry Yates officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park-Cherry Road. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 6:7:30 pm at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mr. Allman was born on March 29, 1942 in Rock Hill, SC to John Allman, Sr. and Cora Bell Totherow Allman. He was a lifelong resident of Rock Hill, SC. He graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1960 and then enlisted in the United States Navy where he served during the Vietnam Era, aboard the USS Constellation. After his service in the Navy, he returned to his hometown and worked at Bowater, and retired after 38 years of service. Mr. Allman was a well-known handyman and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. He also served on several mission trips through his church.
Mr. Allman is survived by his wife of 57 years, "Faye" Clark Allman, two sons, Mike (Beth) of Greenville, SC and Phillip (Diane) of Rock Hill, SC; five grandchildren, Amanda, Patrick, Cheree, Noah and Zach; three step-grandchildren, Brandon J., Brandon C., and Anna; and three great-grandchildren, Jayce, Rylee and Malia; two brothers, John Allman, Jr. and Dennis Allman, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Edna Ann Bigham, Hilda Gilson and Alice Workman.
