Randy Brantley Obituary

Randy Lawson Brantley, 67, passed away January 30, 2019 surrounded by family and friends.

Mr. Brantley was born in York, SC, on June 22, 1951. He was the son of late Ola and Sam Brantley. He was preceded in death by his brother David Brantley.

On June 6, 1970 he married Wanda Gail Brantley. They shared 37 years of marriage until her passing in 2017. Randy is survived by his chosen brother Ken Baker and wife Donna. Children Richard, Angel (fiance Dean Comer), John, two grandchildren Tyler and Alexis, and two great grandchildren Grayson and Brayden.

Randy was a member of Sanctuary Hills Church of God. His devotion towards God, family, and friends was unmatched. Each morning, he could be found at the kitchen table reading the Bible. He was known around the community to puts others' needs before his own.

His dedication and love for children led him and his wife to become foster parents before having children of their own. After their own children were born, his interest in sports guided him to coach and mentor other children, as well as, his own. His passion towards sports led him to become an umpire for the Dixie League.

Randy's love for the York football program began with the Green Dragons and continued with the York Cougars. He was awarded the 2001-2002 Cougar Fan of the Year. He was an avid Clemson fan and wore his orange color with pride.

Randy retired from Frito Lay after 29 years of service focused on Crane Operator and OSHA Safety Coordinator. He received numerous awards throughout the years for his work ethic.

A service will be conducted at 11:00am on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Sanctuary Hills Church of God, 1289 Lincoln Road, York, SC with Pastor Barry Looper. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in York.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 1, 2019 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Sanctuary Hills Church of God, 1289 Lincoln Road, York, SC or the YCHS Athletic Booster Club P.O. Box 711, York, SC 29745 in honor of Randy Brantley.

The Brantley family would like to give special thanks to Donna Baker, his caregiver, and to Agape Hospice for their love and dedication.
