Richard Broom Obituary
FORT MILL - Mr. Richard Wayne Broom, 58, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Sisk Memorial Baptist Church, with Dr. Larry Harrison officiating.
A native of Fort Mill, S.C., Mr. Broom was a son of the late Tom Broom and the late Frances Boatwright Broom. He attended Sisk Memorial Baptist Church, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a self-employed contractor. He was a best friend to his sons and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Donna Broome; three sons, Matt Broome and wife, Tonya, and Alex Broome and wife, Amy, all of Fort Mill, S.C., and Jamie Bagwell and wife Jennifer, of Conway, S.C.; four brothers, Tommy Broom and wife, Phyllis, of York, S.C., Jimmie Broome and wife, Jean, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Grover Broome and wife, Sybil, and Roger Broom, all of Fort Mill; his sister-in-law, Nancy Mace and husband, John, of Charlotte, N.C.; six grandchildren, Thomas, Tristan, Preston, Samuel, Courtney and Madison; and a nephew, Patrick Mace of the home.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Broom's name to Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation, P.O. Box 1016, Venice, FL 34284.
Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel is assisting the family of Mr. Broom.

Donna, I am so sorry for your loss of your beloved husband. Please know that my prayers are with you and your family as you face this loss in your life.
