Joan Yvonne DeHaven of South Haven passed away Saturday March 28, 2025. Born on May 20, 1939, in South Haven to John and Jane Pearce. United in marriage on Aug. 27, 1960, to the late Robert DeHaven.
Joan is survived by her son, Derek (Kathy) DeHaven and daughter Christine, (Michael Scheetz) DeHaven; grandchildren: Kevin, Darren and great-grandchildren: Hayden, Beau, Logan, Graceland and Molly. Also survived by sibling, David (Jan) Pearce.
Preceded in death by her parents and husband of 58 years, Robert DeHaven and infant son, Levi.
Joan graduated in 1958 from Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster, Calif., she was part of a military family that moved all over the world. She met her future husband while staying here in South Haven with her grandparents. They married and together traveled with his military service. Upon his retirement in 1976, they settled in South Haven. Joan spent her time volunteering with South Haven schools, Campfire Girls, Boy Scouts, and was an active member and very involved in The Church of the Epiphany. In her later years, she loved quilting, making infant quilts that she donated to area hospitals. Her generosity and giving spirit will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew her.
Visitation for Joan will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, at Filbrandt Chapel, 1076 S. Bailey Ave., South Haven, MI 49090, The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, at The Church of the Epiphany, 410 Erie St., South Haven. Rev. John Wakefield will officiate. Joan will be laid to rest in Arlington Hills Cemetery in Bangor.
