Joseph "Joey" Michael Angelo Sr., 72, of Haines City, Fla., and Benton Harbor passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Northwest Health – Porter Hospital in Valparaiso, Ind.
A service celebrating his life will be at 11:30 a.m on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Road to Life Church, 3800 Niles Road, St. Joseph, with Pastors Mike and Jill Schoeplein officiating. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment of his ashes will take place at a later date.
Joey was born on July 23, 1948, in Benton Harbor, to Joseph and Francis (Finehout) Angelo.
He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1967. In the 1980s, Joey purchased his first Dairy Queen in Benton Harbor. This would be the first of many that he would own and operate for 30-plus years in Southwest Michigan. In his spare time, you could find Joey on the golf course with his friends or sitting down at Babes, telling his many stories to anyone who would listen.
The true loves of his life were his grandchildren, who called him the best name he's ever been given, "pops." He loved and adored his grandchildren with his entire being. One of his many favorite parts of retirement was spending time with his family in Florida. It was at his home in Florida that he taught his grandkids how to fish, swim and drive a golf cart.
Joey is survived by his daughter, Holly (Chad) Goodline; sons: Joseph (Krissy) Angelo III, Ryan (Makenzie) Angelo; grandchildren: Zach Goodline, Drew Goodline, Paxton Goodline, Kara Angelo, Gwen Angelo, Vivi Angelo, Ellis Angelo and Valor Angelo; his aunt, Mary Wheeler; niece, Deborah Hild (Steve Warren); nephew, Phillip Hild Jr.; and many other nieces, nephews and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Angelo Sr. (Papa Joe); mother, Frances (Finehout) Angelo; and sister, Janice (Angelo) Hild.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Road to Life Church of St. Joseph (memo: Angelo funeral expenses).
Arrangements entrusted to Edmonds & Evans Funeral and Cremation Services. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.ee-fh.com.

Such sad news.
Joe was such a great guy and I always enjoyed my time spent with him. We both loved cars and I can´t think about Joey without seeing his orange Corvette in my mind.
RIP Joe
