Raleigh, North Carolina - Cherie Atkinson, Worshiper, Believer, Follower of Christ.
Cherie Atkinson, a devoted Daughter of God and beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend, passed away on May 4th, 2023. She was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
Born in Albany, New York, in 1971, she spent her life dedicated to serving others and living out her faith. One of the many unique things about Cherie was that she saw hearts everywhere she went. She believed that every heart shape she saw was a wink from God reminding her of His everlasting love. Whether the shape she saw was in the clouds, in a pile of rocks, leaves, flowers or even in the wet pattern of a spilled drink, it reminded her of God's heart and her passion for Him.
Cherie was like an angel to her sister and family; always there to provide comfort, love, and support during difficult times. Her kind and generous spirit touched the lives of countless people, and her unwavering faith in God was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Cherie, goodbye for now. We will see you soon!

Cherie was amazing! She was head of the children´s ministry when my littles were at Shiloh Church. She did an amazing job at putting on Bible School. The girls loved it. Cherie was also a wonderful woman to lean on as a young mom. She gave me much advice and guidance during that time of my life. She was always on fire and so happy. I needed that inspiration. So sad to hear of her passing, but I do know that she´s an angel in heaven now

Cherie - we just happened to be randomly picked to be Freshman ORU Roommates and I couldn´t imagine such an Angel I would have encountered in meeting you and sharing our year together! You were the sweetest most giving kindest person I´ve ever known. Always cheerful and filled with joy and a big smile, you lit up every room and each person who encountered you. You blessed me and my children when I found myself a single mama a few years back so we could have a lovely Christmas! Our talk a couple of months ago was like we had never spent a day away from that first year at ORU. You have touched the world with your light and it will live on for eternity, sweet girl! Enjoy your new heavenly home where we´ll meet again one day! Blessings and prayers for comfort and peace to your family, loved ones and thousands of friends who encountered an angel here on earth! Cherie is the daughter of my Cousin Betty. I was in High School when she and Tamie were born. Over the years I have been blessed by her love for The Lord and her enthusiasm and joy. She was such a part of our preparation for our triplets...I still have the tshirt painted with "3 on board" for me to wear. Many years of tear, laughter, worship and love. My heart is with everyone always.

Cherie certainly fought the good fight and kept the faith. Her positive outlook and unshakeable faith in God will continue to impact the people who knew her for years to come. We are praying for Rob, the kids, and the rest of the family as you walk through this time of grief. So thankful we will see Cherie again someday!

Sweet Cheri was as beautiful inside as she was outside. Every time I reached out to her to see how she was doing, she would turn the conversation around to me. She prayed for me and sent me songs and scriptures for comfort. She never let me know how she was really doing. I have never known someone as selfless as her. My heart is broken. I am praying for her family and friends. We lost a great one.
