Marjorie Cole Minnis

Hillsborough

Mrs. Marjorie Cole Minnis, 91, of Hillsborough, died on Sunday morning, July 2, 2017, following a brief illness. A native of Orange County, she was the wife of the late R. C. Minnis, Jr. and the daughter of Arthur C. Cole and Addie Hocutt Cole, both deceased. Mrs. Minnis worked as the town clerk for the Town of Hillsborough from 1946 to 1972 and was a member of Hillsborough United Methodist Church and an active member of Alpha Circle before moving to Burlington, NC.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna Gaster and husband, Andy, of Hillsborough and son, Dan Minnis, and wife, Marie, of Burlington, NC and a sister, Betty Sue Cole Hawkins, also of Hillsborough. She has six grandchildren, Eric (Cristy) Minnis, Lisa (Jason) Elmore, Chad, TJ, Ryan and Katie Gaster. In addition, she has five great-grandchildren and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Foy Cole.

The funeral service will be conducted by the Reverend Al Horne at Hillsborough United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that memorials be made to HUMC Alpha Circle, c/o Mrs. Shirley Mansfield, 602 Sand Court, Hillsborough, NC 27278.
