Edward Finnigan

1926 - 2016

Finnigan Jr., Edward Age 90; of Gaylord, MI and Leesburg, FL, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at home in Gaylord. Edward was born to Edward and Anna Finnigan on March 5, 1926. He attended St. Patrick’s in Wyandotte, MI. He married Patricia Jane Haas of Detroit, and they recently celebrated their 66th anniversary. He attended Walsh College. Ed worked as a Supervisor of water filtration for the City of Wyandotte when he retired in 1983. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the US Coast Guard. He was a member of the Knight of Columbus and the Royal Hibernians. He was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Gaylord. Ed was a former state and national speed skating champ, and coached the Wyandotte Speed Skating Club for many years. He was inducted into the Wyandotte Sports Hall of Fame. Later in life, shooting pool became his favorite activity. Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr. and Anna. He is survived by his wife Patricia; sons Gerard (Cindy) of Clarkston, MI, Daniel (Kathy) of Rapid City, MI; his sister, Margaret Ann Cybulla (Victor-deceased) of Trenton, MI; grandchildren Kelly, Mark (Jenni), Ryan (Teresa), and Eric (Andrea); great grandchildren Eloise, Robin, and Hope. Edward is also survived by many nieces and nephews and close family friend, Pam Skiba of Gaylord. Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, September 24, 2016 at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery in Gaylord.
