Brenda Jean Hines Killian, 79, of Denver, N.C. died suddenly on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center. Brenda was born on February 7, 1944 as the oldest child of the late John & Geneva Hines of Lexington, N.C.
Brenda's greatest joys came in service to others. Her professional career as a Home Economics teacher and school guidance counselor gave her many opportunities to affect the lives of children in the area. Her work with the acolytes at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church is remembered by many of the children and parents as highlights of their young church experiences. The time she spent as a docent at the Mundy House as a member of the Eastern Lincoln Historical Society brought the rich history of the Denver community to life.
Perhaps the greatest joy she had was found in her own family. She met the love of her life, Lee Beatty Killian, 50 years ago and they built a beautiful life together. Although she never had children of her own, she kept up with her siblings, her eight nieces and nephews, and the lives of their families, never missing a birthday or anniversary with a card or a phone call. She enjoyed a lovely friendship with her sister-in-law, Ernestine Killian, and many friends and family in the Denver community.
In addition to her husband and sister-in-law, Brenda is survived by her brother, Ronald Hines (Pam); sisters Geraldine Byerly (Danny); and Marilyn Everhart (Dennis) all of Lexington, N.C.; eight nieces and nephews; and 19 great-nieces and nephews.
Ever thinking of others, Brenda's final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ, eye, and tissue donation.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 10 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant UMC in Sherrills Ford, N.C. with the Rev. Byron Alexander presiding. A committal service will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service.

We were sad to learn of Brenda's passing. She was a fine lady and will be missed at the Killian Réunion in September. We still hope to see you then. You will be in our prayers for God to support you through this difficult time of your life.
