Clyde Robert Fowler

October 24, 1947 - April 1, 2021

Bobby Fowler, 73, of Newton, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 24, 1947, in Catawba County, the son of Evaleene Lehmons Fowler and the late Clyde Elmer Fowler. Bobby served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in 1969, and was in the 101st Airborne Division. He was part-owner of the family owned hosiery business and then retired from Verizon Wireless. He was also a former DJ, loved deer hunting and fishing with his son. He also loved going to Newton-Conover High football games.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his son, Eric (Beth) Fowler; grandson, David Shore; sister, Barbara McLawhorn; nephews, Brad, David and Brian McLawhorn; and a niece, Emmi McLawhorn.

Celebration of life services will be held at First United Methodist Church Newton at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 10, with the Rev. Josh Sherfey officiating. A gathering of friends at the church will follow service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
