Doris Sigmon

Doris T. Sigmon NEWTON Doris T. Sigmon, 80, of Newton, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born Nov. 21, 1932, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Carrie Travis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters. Ms. Sigmon was a member of Faith Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ in Brookford. She is survived by her sister, Blanche Winstead of Brookford, N.C.; son, Fred Sigmon, of Newton, N.C.; grandchildren, Holly MacMullen and husband, Steve, of Tampa, Fla., Daniel Sigmon, of Newton; and two great-granddaughters, Melanie Sutherland and Sarah MacMullen, both of Tampa, Fla. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 1, at Faith Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Dr. Harry Griffin officiating.
