Eb L. Pyle

CATAWBA - Eb Lee Pyle, 72, of Catawba, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010, at his residence. Born Feb. 14, 1938, in Harrisburg, Pa., he was the son of Harrison LeRoy and June Marie Thompson Pyle. Mr. Pyle loved his family and was active in the community. Mr. Pyle was the owner of Long Island Marina and prior to moving to Lake Norman, he resided in Ohio and was the owner of Eb's Barber Shop and Eb's Restaurant and Lounge, and was past president of the Jaycees. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean Huonker Pyle, and his second wife, Donivee Trantham Pyle. Mr. Pyle is survived by a son, Eb Pyle and wife, Wendy, of Catawba; a daughter, Marsha Hostetler and husband, Donovan, of St. Louis, Mo.; seven sisters, Marilyn Sycz and husband, Walt, Arlene Smith and husband, Alvin, Doris Barnes and husband, Horace, Joyce Webb and late husband, Robert Webb, Debra Ozmun and husband, Chuck, Cheryl Clemenz and Pam LaCivita, all of Ohio; two granddaughters, Cristina Martin of Akron, Ohio, and Courtney Pyle of Catawba; a grandson, Eben Pyle of Catawba; and special friends Steve and Linda Mains. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Concord United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Roger Sailors officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 23, at the church.
