My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. McQuay's family. My coworkers and I enjoyed eating lunch with him at Catawba Valley Medical Center. He had the most interesting stories. It made us wish we had longer lunches so we could hear more. Debra Lovvorn

We enjoyed sitting with Ed at Sunday services at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charlotte over the past few years. He was just a delightful man and we enjoyed hearing his wonderful singing voice. We will miss him! With sympathy for his family, Catherine and Bill Reading

I would like you all to know how sorry I am for your loss. I worked with Ed for a long time at General Electric. His joy of life and his ready smile were his trademarks. Up until recently he had been meeting for Friday lunch with several of his former co-workers and his presence there will certainly be missed.

To all of the McQuay family,
It is difficult to accept that Ed is no longer here and I am so very sad for all of you. I remember Ed visiting us in Wilmington, when Daddy was still alive and then later, when Mother was married to John....he came to see his wife's family in Yaupon beach every Thanksgiving, and always managed to find time to stop in Wilmington! He ALWAYS had a huge smile and postive outlook. It grieves me to be so far away and not be able to give my condolences personally. I am truly sad for your loss. Dear "Ed's" Family,
Although Mother's memory is fading, she still talks of playing with her cousins at the homeplace in Charlotte. I also remember what a wonderful smile the McQuay's put on her face when you came to Wilmington for her 80th birthday. She has fond and funny memories of Ed as a child. We are so thankful he was part of her life and continues to be in her memory. Although I considered bringing her to the funeral, I think the distance and an overnight would be to disorienting for her. I hope you understand. Our deepest condolences.

Ed was such a sweet man. I knew him years ago when I worked in downtown Hickory, and also became reacquainted with him at the hospital. He ate in the cafeteria here often. He will be missed.
