Effie Wilfong Obituary

Effie Wilfong HICKORY Effie Lou Wimbush Wilfong, 73, of 3rd Street Place SW, Hickory, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 unexpectedly at Frye Regional Medical Center. She was born June 22, 1938 in Cleveland County to the late Johnie and Essie Ussery Wimbush. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wilfong Jr; three brothers, Johnnie Lee (J.L.) Wimbush, Horace Wimbush, and Clyde Wimbush. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she was the Assistant Children's Choir Director, Senior Missionary Department member, Senior Choir member where she was the Treasurer. She was a retired employee of Kinston Residence of Hickory, a 1958 graduate of Central High School of Newton. She leaves to cherish loving memories a daughter, Leonore Wilfong of Hickory; two granddaughters, Ursula Shuford and Imani Propst; two grandsons, Stephen "Isiah" Propst and Emmanuel Wilfong; a godson, Dean Wimbush all of Hickory; three brothers, Willie James (Shirley Wimbush) of Capital Heights, Md., Otis (Evelyn Bonnie) Wimbush of Beaver Heights, Md., and William Wimbush of Cheverly, Md.; three sisters, Lessie (Charles) Hart of Detroit, Mich., Tessie Wimbush Dillingham and Jallie Wimbush, both of Hickory; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. The funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Lamont Reeves. Burial will follow in the Bakers Mountain Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Allen Mitchell Funeral Homes of Hickory is serving the Effie Lou Wimbush Wilfong family. Oh my Effie! Bert and Ernie as were called at Kingston Residence from the staff in the kitchen! Wow..it's so hard for me to accept this but,I know you are in heaven as we talked about our Jesus,your Sunday mornings sermons,Under Cover Boss Show and helped me to over come so much at Kingston when first started to work! I told you I would come to your church but,I wasn't expecting to your funeral.I love you and thank you so much for caring for me and our best times together at work! You said,you wanted to leave this world fast and you did it! See ya in Heaven! I'll be up there in the choir by you! God Bless Your family!
