Michael Wesley Ferguson

Michael Wesley Ferguson, 75, peacefully went home to be with our Lord and Savior Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

He was born March 14, 1947, in Detroit, Mich., to the late John Porter and Sadie Saad Ferguson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Beulah Baker Ferguson; three brothers, Jack, Bill and Ken Ferguson; and five sisters, Doris Ann Gallager, Charlotte Waters, Maxine Gilbert, Louise Fox Sheehan and Beverly Pruitt.

Those left to cherish Mike's memory are his wife of 53 years, Linda; three children that he loved dearly, Chris Ferguson and wife, Donna of Connelly Springs, Angie Martin and husband, David of Granite Falls and Sarah Ferguson of Wilmington. He had six grandchildren, Elizabeth Franklin, Joseph Jacomine, Kali Zimmerman, Ryder Martin, Luke Bumgarner and Sawyer Ferguson. He also had four great-grandchildren, Reagan Cloer, Dawson and Maddox Franklin and Lila Rae Zimmerman, who is due in February. He is also survived by one brother, John "Buck" Ferguson of Detroit; sister, Karen Ellison and husband, Johnny of Dudley Shoals; and many nieces, nephews, and others he claimed as his own and loved wholeheartedly.

Family meant the world to him and was the topic of many conversations. He never failed to brag on all of them and tell everyone how special each and every one of them was to him.

Mike served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Panama from 1966 to 1968. He worked at Shuford Mills Tape Division for 20 years before working at Piedmont Business Forms. Mike attended First Baptist Church Granite Falls. There, he made many friends and loved each and every one of them. He never met a stranger.

The family wants to extend a special thank you to the staff at Catawba Valley Medical Center, CCU Unit, 5th floor nurses, and the Oncology Department and to The Greens Rehab Center. They were always very professional and caring while Mike was in their care. The family deeply appreciates all of their help, care and concern.

The receiving of family and friends will be held Monday, Dec. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m., at First Baptist Church Granite Falls. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m., with Pastor Jay Worsley officiating.
