Phillip C. Fleming

HICKORY - Phillip Charles Fleming, 55, of Main Avenue Drive Hickory, devoted husband and father, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care Center following a brief illness. Mr. Fleming was born Jan. 9, 1951, in Catawba County, to the late Weaver Dennis Fleming and Ruby Kent Fleming. He was an employee of Corning for over 24 years and worked in the shipping and receiving department. He was a member of Warlick's Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was in the church choir. Phillip was a Christian for over 27 years, and he loved the Lord. He also loved his family and friends, and appreciated all the blessings God had given him. He was an avid hunter, and was a member of the Route 66 Hunting Club in South Carolina. He also loved fishing, motorcycle riding, and classic cars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Monica Jean Fleming. Survivors include his wife, Paula Guthrie Fleming of the home; a son, Timothy Charles Fleming of the home; a daughter, Holly Fleming Marley and husband, Rex, of Irmo, S.C.; three brothers, David Fleming and wife, Brenda, of Vale, Roger Fleming and wife, Carol, of Holden Beach, and Stephen Fleming and wife, Joyce, of Hudson; and two grandchildren, Victoria Grace Marley and Gavin Rex Marley of Irmo, S.C. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at Warlick's Baptist Church on Warkick's Church Road in Connelly Springs. Officiating will be the Revs. Gary Murry and Zeno Crump. Interment will follow in Warlick's Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends today, Sunday, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Service, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour.
