Ruth Barger Obituary

HICKORY - Ruth Irene Punch Barger, 90, of Hickory passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at Lutheran Home-West after a brief illness. Mrs. Barger was born Feb. 10, 1917, in Catawba County to the late Lawrence W. Punch and Frankie Sigmon Punch. She retired from grocery sales. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barger was preceded in death by her husband, Joe C. Barger, and her sister, Dollie P. Yount. She was survived by four nieces, Norma Y. Moser and her husband, Richard, Susan M. Hux, Heather N. Moser and Kianna C. Moser; and nephews, David L. Moser, Patrick D. Moser and his wife, Robin, Jeffery A. Hux, Nathan L. Hux, Zachary P. Moser and Richard E. Moser Jr. and wife, Jan. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at Bass-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Stephenson officiating. Interment followed in Catawba Memorial Park. The family received friends an hour prior to service at Bass-Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. Barger's nephews served as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Catawba County, P.O. Box 63, Hickory, N.C. 28603. Bass-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory served the family of Ruth Irene Punch Barger.
