Virginia Hollars Obituary

Virginia Lorraine Hollars

November 4, 1932 - January 1, 2024

Virginia Lorraine Holman Hollars, age 91, our loving mother, went to her heavenly home on Monday, January 1, 2024 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare and is now with her husband of 45 years and father of her children, David Warren Hollars, Sr., who she greatly missed.

Born November 4, 1932 in Caldwell County, Lorraine was a daughter of the late Walter Edward and Dorothy Parsons Holman. Lorraine worked for many years as a Western Regional Credit Manager with Century Furniture. She also worked as a substitute teacher and secretary to the principal in the Gamewell community. She loved her Facebook family. Lorraine enjoyed nature, especially working with flowers, watching and feeding hummingbirds. Lorraine enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. Two of her favorite things to prepare were her fresh green beans and her famous strawberry and blackberry freezer jam. She treasured many special moments with Arlene and Larry Cook. One of the things she enjoyed most was spending time with her dog, Princie. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Dale Hollars; two brothers, James Holman and Earl Holman.

Survivors include her children, Danny Hollars (wife Kim), David Warren Hollars, Jr., Darlene Hollars and Donna Renfro (husband George); two sisters, Bonnie Sides and Dottie Holman; her grandchildren, Erin Renee Hollars Hendrix (husband Chad), Nathan Dale Renfro (wife Erin), Holly Renee' Renfro, Jason Dale Hollars (wife Stephanie), Halee Michelle Hollars, Joshua Daniel Hollars, and Jessica Laine Hollars Wisniewski (husband Carl); her great grandchildren, Natalie, Liam, Sophie, Luke, Lydia, Olive, Max, Lula and Finn; her beloved pet, Princie. We will miss you and love you always.

A celebration of Lorraine's life will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home at 3 p.m. with Pastor Joe West officiating. Interment will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m..

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Caldwell County Emergency Services at P.O. Box 2200, Lenoir, NC 28645.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Caldwell County first responders and especially Stephen Watson, who was also a neighbor and friend.

Words of comfort can be left for the family at www.greer-mcelveenfuneralhome.com.

I was very saddened to read of the passing of Mrs. Hollars. I worked with Mrs. Hollars at Century Furniture. I enjoyed talking and working with her.
