Derk Visser Obituary
He was employed at Tower Marina and captained The City of Douglas dinner cruise boat. Boating was his passion and his hobby was story telling. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Visser; and a brother, Mark Visser.
He is survived by his sister, Vickie Visser and Scott Cooper of Holland; Bill Lalley and many other close friends; aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2014, at Northwood Chapel–Dykstra Funeral Homes, 295 Douglas Avenue in Holland. Reverend Larry Johnson will be officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Northwood Chapel.

Derk was a great guy - a big man with a bigger heart and personality. He was always a joy to see with his booming voice and booming laugh. We had many good times with Derk. He will be missed, but will live in our hearts and memories forever. God bless .

Derk was one of my friends from the early days of my life in Douglas. We were quite a crew - the Tower boys would come by and get the Beachway girls and take us for boat rides. A big guy with a big heart and a booming laugh. Relax on your eternal cruise my friend. Thanks for the memories.
