PAUL FREDERICK April 25, 2016. Age 57. Beloved husband of Valerie Knol. Dearest father to Nicholas Frederick and Natalie Anne. Survived by his loving brother, Douglas (Cheryl); loving sisters, Mary and Patty (Wes); loving nieces and nephews, Julie (Jim), Jacqueline, Jennifer (Nick), Matt (Natalie), Amanda, and Hannah; great-nephew, Zachary; and great-niece, Ellie. Paul was born October 1, 1958 to the late Donald F. and Patricia Welday. He grew up in Farmington and attended Farmington Public Schools and the James Madison College at Michigan State University where he majored in Justice, Morality and Constitutional Democracy. Paul was the Managing Partner at Superior Capitol Consulting, Senior Counsel at Watts Partners and President/CEO at Renaissance Strategies. Paul's passion for politics began as an intern for State Representative Sandy Brotherton in 1978 and for Congressman Jack Kemp in 1980. He continued to work in a variety of gubernatorial, congressional and senate campaigns in Michigan, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, most notably for Congressman Joe Knollenberg. He served in a variety of Oakland County and Michigan Republican Party leadership roles, including Chairman of the Oakland County Republican Party. Paul was a wonderful husband, father, mentor, advocate, and friend. He had a large presence, a big heart, a sentimental soul, and was passionate about his family, faith, and community. Visitation is Thursday, 2-8 p.m. and Friday, 2-8 p.m. at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home, 33603 Grand River Ave. (1 block W. of Farmington Rd.), Farmington, Michigan. Funeral Services on Saturday 11 a.m., in state 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 23225 Gill Road, Farmington Hills, Michigan.
