Allen Kline Obituary

Allen H. Kline M.D.
1931-2021
Allen Haber Kline, M.D. died on June 29, 2021 at the age of 90. He was born in Houston on May 2, 1931, educated in the Houston Public School System and became an Eagle Scout. While in high school, he was a member of the National Honor Society and the National Athletic Honor Society. Allen lettered in four sports and was city boys' tennis champion in 1946. He entered the University of Texas, Austin as a Zoology major. He was a member of Alpha Phi Omega Service fraternity, Rush Literary Society, and Silver Spurs. He played varsity baseball and was a member of the 1950 College World Series Champions.
Allen entered Baylor College of Medicine in 1951 where he became a member of the Osler Society. After graduation, he completed his pediatric residency at John Hopkins Hospital because of his love of children which developed in medical school.
He proudly served two years at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida. After his military service, he became Chief Resident at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas. He then entered private practice that continued for sixty years.
Allen met the love of his life, Maude Rose Brown, on a blind date Christmas Eve, 1952 and they decided to get married New Years' Eve 1952! She was his ideal woman-a two year Corolla Beauty at the University of Alabama-smart and athletic. A year later, their family grew as Allen Jr. appeared, followed by Glenn two and a half years later. They were involved with the boys' schooling, sports, and scouting – both became Eagle Scouts.
Later in life, Maude Rose and Allen traveled extensively, usually with grandchildren. He also was an avid tennis player and fitness aficionado as he went to the gym at 5:00 a.m. daily!
Allen was board certified in pediatrics, was a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Ambulatory Pediatric Associates, Texas Pediatric Society, Texas Medical Association, and the Harris County Medical Society.
He is survived by Maude Rose, his wife of 68 years; sons Allen Jr., an attorney and his wife Babs; Glenn, an allergist and his wife Lisa; granddaughters Allison and Elizabeth; grandsons Kevin and Trey and a great granddaughter Margot. His sister Dodie Gaber and his brother Steve Kline also survive him.
He was predeceased in death by his parents Adrienne and Harry Kline.

Dr. Kline was my doctor for 16 years and then came my brother and he was his doctor for 12. Dr. Kline never failed to make me smile no matter how horrible I was feeling. He was always the most encouraging and optimistic person. Always told me to follow my dreams and become who I wanted to be. Dr. Klein has made one of the biggest impacts in my life and I will never forget it. He will always be loved in our family forever and we are so thankful to have met him! Our condolences go out to his family.

I´m sorry to hear about Dr Kline´s passing.

When I had my twin sons Dr Kline was the doctor that discharged them from the hospital. I´ll always remember how positive and encouraging he was- we were a bit overwhelmed! He´s like
" You´ve got this!"
We always said hi on our frequent dr visits.
My sons just graduated high school and they will be attending Baylor and
A & M next year.
Rhett just got his Eagle award last week!
We will always remember Dr Kline w fond memories.

I recently just learned about the passing of Dr. Kline. Dr. Kline has been my families pediatrician for generations. My mother went to him, I went to him and so did all four of my children. I trusted him with my kids, he was caring, funny, and always told me I was doing a great job caring for them. We thought he was s super hero because of his longevity, but that's what happens when you take good care of yourself. Dr. Kline will always be in our hearts!!

Dr. Kline was my pediatrician from a young age. Only saw him when Dr. Allen Bloxsom was not available. When Dr. Bloxsom retired, Dr. Kline became my full time doctor. As a kid thought it was cool he wore blue jeans! My condolences to the Kline family.

I just learned of Dr. Kline´s passing. My heart is broken as he was the Dr. that care for four of my children. He was the greatest Dr. that ever lived. Words can´t express how much we will miss him. I have been coming to Dr. Kline for 54 years. I often would tell him if he was ever to retire I would pitch a tent in his back yard. Every time he would tell me what my child had, or what to do, Dr. Kline was never wrong, never. He was so BRILLIANT. We love you Dr. Kline and never forget you. I know you are resting in peace in the highest of heaven, after all of your wonderful work you did here on earth. My prayers go out to his family, especially his precious wife, he often spoke of the love of his life. Many Blessings to the family. All of you will be in our prayers . The Marks Family
