Anthony Charles Aspromonte, 90, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2018 in Houston, Texas.
He was born on September 26, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York to Laura and Angelo Aspromonte. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rita, sister-in-law Rosemarie Amico, nephew Robert Amico, and brothers-in-law: Ralph Cioffi and Louis Amico.
Charles is survived by his loving daughters: Deborah Simon and husband Terry and Elizabeth Pulaski and husband Adam; brothers Bob and wife Karen Aspromonte and Ken and wife Lori Aspromonte; sister-in-law Marie Cioffi; grandchildren: Brooke and husband Alex Barit, Rachel and husband John Luke McConn IV, Samantha, Sydney and Sarah Pulaski, and great grandson, Bowen Barit. He is also survived by his Simon family grandchildren: Ginny, Lee, Mary Katherine, Bill, and Kelly; as well as his nieces and nephews: Helene Banks and Michael Cioffi, Eileen and Richard Iocolano, Ann and John Cioffi, Lisa and John Tortelli, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Charles attended and played baseball for New York University. He then became a minor league baseball player for the Philadelphia A's. After enlisting in the Army, Charles returned to Brooklyn, married his wife Rita in 1956 and started his life long career with Pitney Bowes working in New York City. He was an incredible salesman, having achieved many national awards and accolades throughout his career. Everyone knew Charles and his clients became lifelong friends. After being blessed with the births of two daughters, the family moved to Westchester County, New York, where Charles enjoyed country living and playing competitive tennis.
With the birth of their first grandchild, Rita and Charles retired to Houston to be closer to their daughters and their families as well as Charles' brothers and wives.
Charles joined his brothers working at Aspromonte Coors Distributing Company in many marketing positions. He was very instrumental in Bobby and Kenny's lives and in their baseball careers. As the big brother, Charles played an important role in negotiating their contracts in major league baseball and following their careers day to day. Many a vacation Rita and Charles would pack up the girls and travel by car from one baseball stadium to another. He was their biggest fan!
Charles was also very proud of his Italian Heritage. He was a member of the Italian Cultural Community Center in Houston and NIAF-National Italian American Foundation in Washington, DC. Whether it was sports, Italian heritage or career planning, Charles was always offering advice and education on all topics. Every moment was a teaching experience. The past few days Debbie and Liz have heard from many family and friends telling wonderful "Charlie Stories" on how he had shaped their lives in so many ways. He was a master of putting people together who shared common threads of life, whether it was in business, sports, or just being a special Dad.
Charles was kind, charming and loving to all. Rita and Charles enjoyed the opera, symphony, and theatre when they lived in New York as well as in Houston. They approached each activity with a love of life and full of laughter. They enjoyed traveling the world and instilled the passion of travel to their daughters. His greatest joy in life was being a father to his girls and "Poppy" to his grandchildren and all their friends. He was the center of the entire Aspromonte family and he will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Our heartfelt gratitude is also extended to the staff of St. Luke's Hospital Neuro-ICU Unit, Dr. James T. Willerson, Dr. Sarah Selleck and Dr. Cora Sharfman, and to our amazing staff/family at Brookdale Galleria.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family request donations in Charles' memory to be given to the Italian Cultural Community Center (www.iccchouston.com) and Houston Hospice (www.houstonhospice.org).
A family celebration of Charles' life will be held at a later date.
