Carl Graef Obituary

CARL R. GRAEF, age 79, passed away on Oct. 2, 2007, at his home in Houston, after a year long battle with cancer. He is survived by his children, Laurie Graef, Mark Graef, Carl Graef and wife Karen, Tammie Graef Robeck and husband Mark; two grandchildren, Lindsay and Forrest Robeck; his sister, Clara Krause of Pittsburgh, PA. He is also survived by his former wife and still close friend, Virginia Graef, who was by his side for his final days. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on Novemebr 1, 1927, served in the US Navy (World War II) and moved to Houston in 1950. Hired by Houston Bank and Trust (now Bank of America) in 1950, he was well known and highly respected as a banker for 40 years. Throughout his adult life, he loved his family, his job and working around the house, inside and out, creating beautiful surroundings in which to live and raise his family. Generous to the point that people had to remind him of things he had done to help them in their time of need, Carl did these things without a second thought. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Chapelwood United Methodist Church on Saturday Oct. 6th at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial contribution be made to Parkinson's Disease Foundation @ 1359 Broadway Suite 1509, NY, NY 10018 or Houston Hospice @4848 Loop Central Dr. Bldg. 2, Suite 650, Houston, TX 77081
