Charlotte Ewart Obituary

Ewart
Charlotte Fischer Ewart, 43, died unexpectedly January 26, 2011 after a brief illness. Charlotte was born on February 4, 1967 in San Antonio. She graduated from Westlake High School in Austin, where she was an accomplished cross country runner and figure skater excelling in regional competitions. She graduated from Rice University with majors in English and Political Science in 1989 and received a JD from the University of Texas Law School in 1992. A woman of boundless energy, she took an eight-month leave of absence during her second year of law school to perform with Walt Disney's World on Ice in Japan and the United States, but still finished her studies on schedule with her class.
After law school, she became a member of the Texas Bar and practiced at the Houston law firm of Ireson & Wizell. In 1999, she became an in-house attorney at ICO, Inc. In 2001, she was promoted to general counsel and in 2002 she added the duties of corporate secretary and was a member of the management team. She regularly traveled to the Middle East, Europe, South America and the Asia Pacific for her legal practice.
While she was an accomplished lawyer, in her spare time she taught a wide variety of weight training and group exercise classes at the Houston Downtown YMCA and Trotter YMCA, where she developed an enthusiastic following. She also ran numerous marathons in Houston, San Antonio and Boston as well as half-marathons and 10-k runs.
In 2005, she married Norman Ewart and they had two children, Alex Frederick, now twenty two months old, and eight month Nina Renee. She is also survived by stepson Thomas Michael Ewart of Austin, parents Jeanne and E. Fred Fischer of Round Rock, Texas, and a brother, Jason Fischer of Los Angeles, and grandmother Nora Hage Serur of Austin.
Charlotte exhibited an unabashed joy for living that few people will ever possess. She was an amazing teacher, role model, friend, wife, mother, daughter and sister. Her many friends are invited to share remembrances of Charlotte from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, January 28 during visitation at the Bradshaw-Carter Funeral Home, 1734 West Alabama Street. A celebration of her life will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 29 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1311 Holman Street, with interment immediately following at Magnolia Cemetery of Houston, 816 Montrose Blvd., and a reception afterwards at Bradshaw-Carter Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers at Saturday's service are Thomas Ewart, David Hardacker, David Riddell, Phillip Eisenberg, Andy Karsner, and Edward Cianella.

I have just learned of Charlotte's passing & I am so very sorry. We were suite-mates at Rice during her first year and Charlotte was very dear to me. She was part of my wedding party and I even stayed at her parents' house once during a road trip. She was truly special. My heart goes out to her husband and children, especially that the children will never fully know her and her unique personality. I know that Charlotte is still with them in spirit, looking out for them.

I am so sorry to hear about Charlotte's passing. I used to ice skate with her in Austin before she got accepted to Rice. She was a beautiful skater and such a nice and friendly person. My thoughts are with your family and her little babies.

Charlotte's Family and Friends,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Charlotte personally, but she was just the nicest Body Pump instructor. She was inspirational to all of us that wanted to be healthier and more fit. It was a joy to be in her class. I send my prayers to you all.

Jeanne, Fred, and Jason -
What sad news to hear of Charlotte's death, and while I did not personally know her, you kept me informed of her progress in life from her high school days and through her advanced studies, and I realized that she accomplished so much in her shortened life, and was a wonderful person. As a family, your life will never be the same without her, but we pray that you will gain the necessary strength from your faith in God to continue on in your lives and to be the best grandparents & uncle she would want you to be.

I was a regular in Charlotte's step class at the downtown Y and saw her occasionally in recent years at the Trotter. I was shocked to learn of her untimely passing. She was a truly amazing person who had more energy and life than anyone I've ever known. I remember talking with her before she had her first baby. She was looking at my kids, who were little themselves at the time, and I could tell then how much she wanted to be a mother and how wonderful she would be. My heart goes out to her husband and babies.

I remember her as being a lovely, bright girl who always was friendly, smiling, and energetic and who enjoyed the company of her many friends. She will be missed.

My heart goes out to her husband, children, family and all who loved her.

Six short years, but it seems like a lifetime. As Charlotte's Mother-in-law, I was as happy and proud as a mother could be of Norm for being blessed with such a special lady. She gave me my first grand-daughter after 5 grandsons, truly miraculous. At four months of age, she brought her beautiful son Alex to visit me in San Francisco. It was a lawyers' convention at the hotel next to my building and Jeanne had a room on the second floor with Alex and Norm & Charlotte were on the 21st floor. We had lunch in Jeanne's room one day & Charlotte showed us all of the tricks she had taught Alex to do.
At 22 mos., Alex now recites the entire alphabet: "A is for apple . . ." because while feeding him, Charlotte would have him read from a flash card before giving him his food. A blessed, beautiful - extremely tasteful and intelligent and talented human being. She was the "Angel without Wings" and an inspiration to me to go back to step aerobics at age 73, which saved my life. Thanks be to God for Charlotte Ewart. My undying love & devotion.

I was shocked to hear news of Charlotte's passing. What a terrible loss to so many. I met Charlotte at the YMCA where over many years I looked forward to her weekly step and Power Pump classes (as well as her humor and wit). I’ve since moved to London and have often thought of her (in my search for an instructor offering anything close to Charlotte’s brilliant choreography). She surely will be missed.

I moved to Houston in 2001, joining the Lake Houston Y. Being a step enthusiast, I took classes there, but heard talk of an amazing step instructor at the Downtown Y. After attending my first class with Charlotte, I was committed to learning how to teach myself.
Although I was teaching classes now,
I continued to take Charlotte's classes, and was always amazed at her ability to teach a perfectly choreographed class. She was a true pro.
My thoughts are with Norm and the children. May God bless you.

Charlotte was a true inspiration to me. I first met her at the Houstonian when she attended one of my fitness classes. I knew immediately she was a professionally trained athlete because of her amazing energy and attention to technique. A small thing that I adored about her was her cute little walk. She had a certain bounce that made me smile. I think the bounce was because of the overwhelming joy that filled her heart from being a new mom and wife. She just told me last week how blessed her life was as she held little Nina in her arms. I pray for her precious family to feel the Lord's peace and love embracing them.

Charlotte was the most energetic, focused, and capable person I have ever known. I will miss her as a friend, a neighbor, an instructor, a legal councilor, and a supporter of great causes (some of which she even managed to drag Deborah and me to, for which I will be forever thankful).

Dear Charlotte, thank you for all fun times as my fitness friend...For us whom you left behind we might only find some comfort in knowing:
" YOU ARE thousands winds that blow, softly falling snow, gentle showers of rain, the starshine of the night, flowers that bloom, birds that sing...in every lovely thing...And you say ; "Do not stand by my grave bereft..I am not there...I have not left..." (E.Frye)

Charlotte was my neighbor for many years when we were "pioneers" buying our first lofts in regentrified Midtown. She was one of the first people to invite me to the "pool party" she had in her driveway and made me feel immediately welcome.
