Floy Simmons Obituary

FLOY M. SIMMONS, age 77, much beloved wife, mother, and grandmother went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 15, 2003 in Houston, Texas. She was born in Stephenville, TX on October 1, 1926. She is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lisa Deette, and a sister, Jo Reed Kaufman. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, James Simmons. She is also survived by her daughter, Dawn Till and husband Keith and daughters Melissa and Alyson, Eve Wooding and husband Micheal, and daughter Kayla, Tami Harrison and husband Johnny and children Brandon, Ryan, Amanda, and Alex, Wendy Martin and husband Dale and children John, Katie, and Eric; sisters Delle Brown and husband Mal, Helen Neely and husband Garnet and brother George Moon and wife Mildred and numerous nieces and nephews. She graduated from Baylor School of Nursing in 1951. Floy and Jim owned and operated Piney Point Pharmacy until 1993. She has been a member of Memorial Drive Baptist since 1964. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2003 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2003. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Memorial Drive Baptist Church, 325 Piney Point Drive with Dr. Randy Hatchett officiating. Immediately following the memorial service a reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to contribute to the American Cancer Society.
