GILBERT PRESCOTT Obituary

GILBERT EUGENE PRESCOTT , left this life peacefully, Friday on December 11, 2009, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Beatrice Prescott, and four brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Peggy McCall Prescott; sister, Joyce Biles; daughters, Karen Prescott, Debra Sawyer, Sharon Sparks; grandchildren, Michele Reyna, Christopher Wood, Hayley Sparks, and Brandon Sparks; great-granddaughter, Kamryn Reyna; step children, Aaron and Franklin Claborn, Lizabeth McCall; granddaughter, Aria D'Amico; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gilbert was a native Houstonian, who grew up on the East side, and attended Milby High School .He served in the Merchant Marines and the US Army, in Korea. As a real estate broker and developer, Gilbert was a long time member of the Houston Area Realtor's Association. In partnership with his wife, Peggy, he founded Com For Care Assisted Living Homes for the elderly. Gilbert was passionate about traveling the world and was fortunate to see every continent with family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cruises and spending time at his homes in Galveston. Gilbert was a caring man, who never met a child or animal he didn't love. He was devoted to his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Gilbert and wife Peggy are long time members of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Services will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, located at 5308 Buffalo Speedway on Monday, December 14, 2009, at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Jeff Smith and Dr. Jim Gill officiating. Interment will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Heartfelt thanks are given to the loving staff of Com For Care, especially Esmeralda Ortiz, Mercedes Gomez, Mary Lou Oyala, Raul Rangel and Tracy Fesha, for their devoted care and support to Gilbert and his family. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to Houston Hospice, The Alzheimer's Association, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, or the charity of your choice.
