Helmut Krause Obituary

DR. HELMUT KRAUSE, 91, of Houston passed from this life to his reward in heaven, Tuesday, February 18, 2003. Born November 10, 1911 in Germany, Dr. Krause obtained a M. S. and PhD. Degree in astronomy, physics and mathematics in 1938. Helmut worked at the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama from June 1957 until his retirement in 1990. Dr. Krause wrote forty extensive theoretical research papers in the field of Rocket Ballistics, Supersonic Aerodynamics, Aerodynamic Heat Transfer, Free-flight Dynamics and Theories of Celestial Bodies. Dr. Krause was the recipient of the first Ernst Heinckel Space flight Award in 1951 and was honored by Dr. Werner Van Braun with numerous letters and certificates of personal achievement while at NASA. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years Annemarie Krause; his loving daughter and son-in-law, Gina and James Gradoni and his brother and sister-in-law, Hans & Emilie Krause of Stuttgart, Germany. Memorial services will be held at 3pm, Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at Kinsmen Lutheran Church, 12100 Champion Forest Dr. with Pastor John Boldt officiating.
