John Raymond Obituary

JOHN W. RAYMOND died February 13, 2005 after an unexpected but short illness. Born May 2, 1950 in Houston, Texas to Joseph James Raymond, Sr. and Mary Eleanor Raymond. John, known as "Bubba" to his family, lived his entire life in Houston. John was a hands-on, common sense individual who had the ability to repair most anything. He made a career of his talents, being employed as a machinist for the last 15 years at Dril-Quip machine shop. His friends and co-workers knew him as "J-Ray", and shared with him his love for the outdoors, including hunting and firearms collecting, and Harley Davidson motorcycle riding. John embraced life and was a true friend to everyone who crossed his path, and he will be remembered in their hearts forever. His father, Joseph James Raymond, Sr., preceded John in death. John is survived by his mother, Mary Eleanor Raymond, his three siblings and their spouses, Joseph James Raymond, Jr. and his wife Patricia, Mary Joyce Killinger and her husband George, and Janet Rose Bitner and her husband Orlan, two nieces, Terry Lynn Arnold and husband Calvin, Amanda Killinger Lewis and husband Andy, and one nephew, Austin Joseph Bitner, as well as other relatives and close friends. The memorial services will be conducted by Monsignor James B. Anderson of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and will be held at 6:00 PM, Friday February 18, 2005 at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home, 1200 W. 34th Street, Houston, Texas. Those desiring may make memorial donations to The 100 Club, 1233 West Loop South, Suite 1250, Houston, TX. 77027. www.the100club.org.

Elvis and I are very sorry over the sad loss. I hadn't seen him for many years and am very glad that mom and I were able to see him at Amanda's wedding.

May God bless all the family and friends affected by his loss and may his soul be resting at peace with God.

Although it’s been quite a few years, I've always recalled fondly the times I spent in the company of Bubba during family gatherings. What always made an impression upon me was his kindness and sincerity; a decent, thoughtful man with no pretense.

Rest in eternal peace in the kingdom of Heaven, my friend - we shall meet again.
