Karl Jamail Obituary

Karl Jamail
11/12/1938 - 04/24/2024
Karl Xavier Jamail, a lifelong Houstonian, died on April 24, 2024 after an illness of several months.
Karl, the eldest son of George Jamail and Hazle Brown Jamail, was born on November 12, 1938. He attended St. Anne's School, and St. Thomas High School, where he graduated in 1957. In his early years he spent a great deal of time in the Montrose haunts of Cherryhurst Park and the Tower Theater, and weeks in the summer at his maternal grandparents' home in Sugar Land.
After graduating from the University of Houston with a business degree specializing in marketing, he went on to a career in commercial real estate, spanning more than fifty years.
Although he never attended Texas A & M (his father did) Karl was an avid fan of Aggie football. Another passion of his was jazz, and among the special moments of his life were his opportunities to be at concerts of many of the great names of American jazz artists. He also loved his wife and family, children, animals of all kinds, and was especially bonded with the dogs that were an important part of his and Florence's life through the years. He enjoyed many years of great companionship with his closest friends and their families.
Karl is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Florence Bushnell Jamail; his brother, Milton Jamail and his wife Margo Gutierrez; his sister Theresa Sewell and her husband, Charles Formica. Karl also had three nephews: Matthew Sewell, Gabriel Jamail-Gutierrez , and Jorge Jamail-Gutierrez, and wife, Stacey Wujcik. He had one grandnephew, Stevie Ray Jamail-Hayes.
Florence thanks all the kind nurses, PCA's and business staff at Memorial City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their support and caring assistance to Karl during his time there.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 22nd, at 2:00 pm, at the home of his sister.

Mrs. Jamail, I have just learned of Karl's passing.
We met many years ago in Weddington, NC (Charlotte)when he was with RBC. I am a Realtor and we met through foreclosed properties. He was a gem of a person and friend. I will miss his holiday call each year to check in on my son and I. Your family has certainly lost a one of kind gentleman! May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Hugs, Jamie Leggett
